MAP Announces 2007 Program Participants
Representing 35 states and Puerto Rico, 111 new participants have joined AAM's Museum Assessment Program (MAP), a confidential process of self-study, peer review and implementation supported through a cooperative agreement with the Institute of Museum and Library Services. The new additions include 47 Institutional Assessments (IMAP), 26 Collections Management Assessments (CMAP), 27 Public Dimension Assessments (PDA) and 11 Governance Assessments (GMAP).
All eligible museums that submitted applications by the week before the February deadline are participating in MAP this year. In addition, all eligible applicants from museums with annual operating budgets of less than $125,000 were accepted into the program and will participate free of cost. Depending on the size of their budgets, other museums will supply a small share of the expenses, ranging from $350–$750. AAM will cover all participants' surveyor travel expenses (up to $850) and surveyor honorariums ($300). At the end of the assessment, participants will receive a resource packet valued at $150 from the AAM Bookstore.
