Fellowship Programs at Independent Research Institutions

Support fellowships at institutions devoted to advanced study and research in the humanities. Recognizing that at times scholars need to work away from their homes and institutions, the FPIRI program sponsors fellowships that provide scholars with research time, a stimulating intellectual environment, and access to resources that might otherwise not be available to them.

US Department of State Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program 

The core Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program provides teaching and/or research grants to U.S. faculty and experienced professionals in the arts and humanities. Grants are available in over 125 countries worldwide. Fully funded awards are available to support projects that build institutional capacity and design innovative curriculum, mentor programs, workshops and exhibitions as well as increase mutual understanding and cross-cultural dialogue.

US Department of Education Investing in Innovation

The Investing in Innovation Fund, established under section 14007 of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), provides funding to support (1) local educational agencies (LEAs) and (2) nonprofit organizations in partnership with (a) one or more LEAs or (b) a consortium of schools. The purpose of this program is to provide competitive grants to applicants with a record of improving student achievement and attainment in order to expand the implementation of, and investment in, innovative practices that are demonstrated to have an impact on improving student achievement or student growth, closing achievement gaps, decreasing dropout rates, increasing high school graduation rates, or increasing college enrollment and completion rates.
