American Alliance of Museums Shares Resources, Calls for the Field to Support Museums Ravaged by Hurricane Harvey

ARLINGTON, VA ─ Laura Lott, President and CEO of the American Alliance of Museums, the only organization representing the entire scope of the museum community, issued the following statement today:

Our hearts are with our colleagues and their communities in Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana as we watch the devastating images and news coming out in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, and with those who remain in the storm’s path.

The Alliance is in communication with our member museums in the area, as well as the Texas Association of Museums.  We have shared our emergency response resources widely with colleagues in the region, and we encourage others in the field to take a moment to review their own emergency preparedness plans.

AAM is a member of the National Heritage Emergency Task Force and is working with federal agencies and nonprofit organizations on the Task Force to respond to the needs of affected cultural organizations.
