Ford Bell to Testify on Museum Funding Before House Appropriations Subcommittee
AAM President Ford W. Bell has been invited to testify before the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies on May 12, 2010. This subcommittee oversees funding for the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), the Department of Education and many other important federal agencies and programs.
If you have received an IMLS grant, now is a perfect time to let your Representative know how important that grant is to your museum and how you used the grant funds.

"IMLS grants play an important role in helping museums serve their communities, but each year only a small fraction of highly-rated grant applications are funded," said AAM President Ford W. Bell. "I look forward to reminding Members of Congress that museums are essential in their communities—as partners in education, as economic engines, and as keepers of our national heritage—and urging them to support a significant funding increase for IMLS."
As part of the annual appropriations process, AAM submitted a request in February to testify before the subcommittee in support of our nation’s museums.
