Register Now for Museums Advocacy Day 2016 and Three More Ways to Get Involved

Every day the Alliance is working hard to make the case for museums of all types and sizes, around the country and beyond. But we can’t do it alone. Legislators must hear from you—their constituents—about the value and impact of museums they represent.

Will you do your part and speak up for museums?
Register now for Museums Advocacy Day 2016.

“Museums Advocacy Day is the field’s best opportunity to ensure Congress understands the true value of museums in their communities,” said Alliance President and CEO Laura L. Lott. “Especially given the recent budget deal in Congress, we have a real chance to increase federal investment in museums, preserve key tax incentives, and support museums’ essential role in the educational ecosystem. But we can’t do any of those things unless we speak up together.”

What is Your Museum’s Most Powerful Visitor Story? Share your story today!

We are honored by the powerful stories of the 2014 (see the inspiring 5-minute video) and 2015 Great American Museum Advocates. And we know there are many more out there. What is your most powerful visitor story? How has your museum changed someone’s life? You can tell us in your own words, send us a letter you received from a visitor or share a link to a video or photo that captures the story. Please submit your story by December 4, 2015.

Nominate a Member of Congress to Be Honored at Museums Advocacy Day

Each year at Museums Advocacy Day, we take time to recognize members of Congress who have made outstanding contributions to the museum field. It’s a great way to say thank you AND it sends a powerful signal to other legislators about the benefits of good behavior. Do you know a member of Congress who has been particularly supportive of the field’s legislative agenda or of your individual organization? Nominate him or her by submitting a brief explanation to Alliance government relations staff by December 4. See information on previous awardees.

Pledge Your Support

Museums Advocacy Day is truly a field-wide event, and that broad support is critical to its success. Thank you to all of our 2016 supporters! Pledge your support today.
