Dr. Freeman A. Hrabowski is a scholar, visionary and an educational pioneer. President of the University of Maryland Baltimore County since 1992, Hrabowski has transformed UMBC into one of most dynamic, innovative campuses in America, named an “Up and Coming” university by U.S. News & World Report. A focus for Hrabowski has been science and math education, with special emphasis on minority participation and performance. Hrabowski’s groundbreaking work has been in major documentaries and profiled on media outlets such as 60 Minutes. President Obama recently tapped him to chair the President’s Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for African Americans.
