AAM Professional Development Program in 2009
AAM Professional Development (AAM PD), launched officially in 1988, provides tools to address some of the most critical issues in the field. On the national level, AAM is committed to providing the highest quality PD programs to the broadest audience, addressing the AAM strategic framework goals of leadership, collaboration, and excellence by increasing its capacity to reach museum practitioners of all varieties, “on the ground” “where they are.” Seminars, workshops and e-learning opportunities (including live webinars and on-demand programs) are held throughout the year to meet the needs of museum practitioners at every stage of their career (emerging, mid- senior, beyond), in all functional areas, and in a wide range of museum types, sizes, budgets and disciplines across the country. In doing so, AAM anticipates helping individual museum practitioners improve both their technical and interpersonal management and leadership skills (hard and soft skills), thus helping create stronger institutions that can better serve their communities, and ultimately help communicate the value of museums to society in these challenging times and beyond.
