Use the following tools to assess your museum's level of readiness for a new application or its reaccreditation process.

Readiness checklist -- how do we score?

Eligibility requirements -- do we meet them?

Document diagnostic -- do we have the required documents and do they measure up? 
Use the document checklist in section E of the application form as a tool to compare your policies  against the list of documents required in the accreditation process. 

Qualities of a Successful Review/Applicant -- do we have them?

Self-Study practice run -- how much can we complete?
Buy a copy of the Accreditation Resource Kit, which includes a full copy of the Self-Study Questionnaire and Self-Study Guide. [Current program participants should contact the program staff for a copy.] Have staff and board begin to work through some of the questions.  Use this exercise to assess what topics, issues, procedures, perspectives, etc. need to be worked on, better articulated, further discussed, or brought into alignment or consensus.
