Become an Accreditation Peer Reviewer

Now that the museum has finished its accreditation review, the director and senior staff are strongly encouraged to become AAM peer reviewers.

Remember the two museum professionals that volunteered their valuable time to conduct your site visit, including reading your materials in advance, spending a few days on site, and writing the report? If you’re not already an AAM Peer Reviewer, it’s time to sign up and return the favor.

The Accreditation Program depends on volunteers experienced with the accreditation process and museum standards to operate. And the Visiting Committee pool is barely big enough to cover the program’s needs.

You say you’re too busy?

  • We only ask that you do one visit a year (and you may not even be asked every year—we need about 50-100 reviewers each year to do accreditation site visits).
  • Think about the return on your time investment!

What’s in it for you?

AAM Peer Review is an important professional development opportunity that benefits you, the museum profession, and your fellow museums in the Accreditation Program.
