- Begin the Self-Study Workbook
- Invoice from AAM for MAP administrative fee
February 2009 (May for Governance Assessments)
- Mail required copies of completed Self-Study Workbook to AAM
- Receive, rank and return Potential MAP Surveyors List
- Once Self-Study Workbook and ranked Potential MAP Surveyors List are received, MAP staff confirms Surveyor(s) and forwards contact information to you
- Museum contacts the confirmed Surveyor(s) to schedule Site Visit and develop the Visit Agenda
- Museum contacts MAP Staff with site visit date
February 2010
- Site Visit must occur by February 1 in order for the museum to finish within the MAP Assessment period.
8-12 weeks after visit
- MAP forwards Surveyor(s) report to museum
Two years after award notification
- End of MAP Assessment period
Implementation Phase (ongoing)
The real value of the Assessment is measured by how the museum uses the information gathered in the assessment process to effect change.
