Annual Meeting

Thursday, May 19th
LGBTQ+ Alliance Steering Committee Meeting, Room 208, Boston Convention Center.
12:30 pm to 2:00 pm.
All are welcome to join us as our steering committee meets to discuss the business activities of our Alliance for the upcoming year.
Friday, May 20th
LGBTQ+ Alliance and CARE combined luncheon (ticket purchase required), Room 206 AB, Boston Convention Center.
12:30 pm to 1:30 pm
This year, we are partnering with CARE (Committee on Audience Research and Evaluation) to host a luncheon focused on integrating research into organizational priorities.
Neighborhood Hub Meet ups, Neighborhood #1, Diversity, Indigenous, LGBTQ, Accessibility, Boston Convention Center.
3:00 pm to 4:00 pm
New this year, the Neighborhood Hubs offer a space to mingle and interact with colleagues whose work, interests, or jobs that connect to the broad array of interests identified with our hub. There will be members of the LGBTQ+ Alliance steering committee at the hub to share our work and answer questions. There will be a second offering tomorrow from noon to 1:00 pm.

This official conference event is your opportunity to connect with members of the LGBTQ+ Alliance. Representatives from all AAM’s professional networks will be in attendance.

Poster: Identifying and Interpreting Transgender Stories in Museums.
Presented by Tony Pankuch (Archives Assistant Drs. Nicholas and Dorothy Cummings Center for the History of Psychology) and Samantha Evelyn Eisenberg (manager, Individual Giving, Point Foundation) Tony and Samantha will be speaking on the subject in the Poster Talk Session at 11:30 am. This poster will present a synthesis of key concepts from our research and from interviews conducted with museum professionals who have worked to tell transgender stories through exhibitions and programming. The poster will also invite viewers to contribute feedback on the content of the guidebook and resource list before final publication.

Queer Coffee Break Series
Our Queer Coffee Break Series is back! Check our Facebook the last Thursday of each month at 3:00pm EST for a new video on LGBTQ+ related history, museum best practices, and more. You can also catch up on any of the older videos you might have missed.
Interested in sharing your expertise in a video? We are looking for stories about you! Do you have insight about challenges and successes of being a LGBTQ+ museum professional? Or, would you like to share interesting content about your museum’s LGBTQ+ related history or initiatives to promote LGBTQ+ lives? We welcome and invite anyone in the museum field to submit a video of your story.
