The Alliance provides Tier 3 museum members with sample furnishing plans. Tier 3 museum members can access a number of sample furnishing plans from other museums.

Colvin Run Mill Furnishing Plan

In this 58 page PDF, the Colvin Run Mill staff outline the purpose of the plan, site description and map, a history of the site, and various areas around the site.

Dumbarton House Historic Furnishings Plan

This 257 page PDF document from Dunbarton House includes a history of the house, the methodology used to develop the document, outlines each room the plan applies to and includes some provenance information in the appendices.

What is a Furnishing Plan Anyway?

Mary Ruth Coleman wrote this article for the Carlyle House Docent Dispatch newsletter and it goes into detail about what a furnishing plan is meant to accomplish and how the Carlyle House staff went about developing theirs.
