Label Writing Contest Winners

Each year during the Marketplace of Ideas at the AAM Annual Meeting, professionals from every corner of the field gather to share ideas and celebrate the year’s best in exhibition label writing. The forum for their conversations is a display showcasing the honorees for the Excellence in Exhibition Label Writing Competition presented by AAM’s Curators Committee (CurCom) Professional Network.

Gallery Text at the V&A: A Ten Point Guide

The Victoria and Albert Museum provides its gallery text guidelines (PDF). It addresses the museum’s philosophy for exhibit text, writing and editing procedures, text hierarchy and label format.

Writing Text and Labels

Australian Museum Audience Research Centre summarizes the literature on visitor behavior in exhibits and provides guidelines for writing labels based on the findings.
