Facilities Planning in the New Economy
The Alliance provides a handout from its 2013 annual meeting, which presents a case study of the Art Institute of Chicago’s 2006 Gallery re-installation Master Plan. The session outlines the experience of creating the plan; managing the planning process and the plan’s format, content and execution; logistical and financial implications; and developing and managing a realistic budget.

The Whole Building Design Guide offers information on a wide range of building-related issues, criteria, and technology. The design guidance section of their website has information about space types (including auditoriums, classrooms, libraries, and surface parking), design objectives (such as fire protection, security, accessibility, and historic preservation), and systems (such as HVAC and fire protection).

The project management section of their website provides guidance in planning and managing building projects with the goal of satisfying an owner’s expectations for project scope, budget, and schedule.
