Museum sector enjoyed growing numbers of visitors in 2021

The Art Newspaper released its annual visitation survey for art museums around the world, and while numbers are still down from pre-pandemic levels, the results show that 2021 saw significant growth from 2020, with encouraging signs of recovery.

The Art Newspaper has unveiled the 100 most popular art museums in the world in 2021 in its annual visitor figures survey, with the museum sector welcoming back growing numbers of visitors. Last year's survey showed that attendance dropped by 77 percent globally in 2020.
