The New-York Historical Society has opened “Hope Wanted: New York City Under Quarantine” in its courtyard, where an open-air story booth invites visitors to contribute their own lockdown experiences.
“There’s something very personal and even intimate about getting those first-person stories that you can’t necessarily replicate through objects and ephemera.”
An oral history project conducted in early April at the height of the pandemic in New York City reminds visitors of both the tragedy and heroism of a moment in time.
