Joint conference of ICOM’s International Committee for Regional Museums (ICR) and International Committee for the Training of Personnel (ICTOP) in New Zealand 5-9 November 2018
ICR and ICTOP is collaborating with ICOM Aotearoa New Zealand to organize this 2018 conference on the theme of Facing the new political realities: rethinking training for regional museums.
The International Committee for Regional Museums (ICR) and the International Committee for the Training of Personnel (ICTOP) have joined forces to consider how best to prepare those working in and with regional museums to manage their museums in constantly changing political environments.
How can we best to prepare museum staff for today’s constantly changing environment?
This timely conference brings together international colleagues from museums, galleries, training programmes and universities to exchange ideas and discuss current and future issues, training needs and new approaches. This will also be a chance to gain insights into New Zealand’s distinctive museology, partnerships between Maori and museums, and the bicultural museum practice which is actively being developed through Maori colleagues and source communities.
The programme will include keynote speakers, papers from international and local presenters, debate, museum visits and warm Kiwi hospitality. The conference language is English.
American colleagues are warmly invited to participate in the conference
November 4-9, 2018 in Auckland, Waiouru, and Wellington.
