Description:
Technology creates exciting opportunities for cultural institutions to connect and collaborate but most cannot afford to build or sustain repositories on their own. Our session will address this challenge by exploring collaborative platforms. New York Heritage Digital Collections, NYS Historic Newspapers, and Empire Archival Discovery Cooperative are collaborative platforms that enable cultural heritage institutions to share their collections online. The Adirondack Experience will illustrate the collaborative aspect of these projects by discussing their grant-funded project to digitize roughly 1,300 maps dating from 1703 – 2004.

During this interactive panel discussion, professionals from both the Studio Museum in Harlem and The New York Public Library will discuss the role of cultural institutions within communities, and more specifically the dynamics between both institutions as it relates to the Studio Museum’s inHarlem initiative. A moderated discussion will also include a moment for viewer participation using materials sourced from The Studio Museum, followed by an audience Q + A.

The Citizenship Project: Engaging Immigrant Communities by Building Partnerships

Description:
The New-York Historical Society offers free naturalization preparation classes through The Citizenship Project. Since its launch in 2017, over 4500 immigrants have participated. The key to its success have been partnerships with local community-based organizations (CBOs) and government agencies. Learn how your institution can build partnerships to engage your immigrant community.

Each Partnership Forum will be from 10 AM – 4 PM. Registration is $30 for MANY members and $25 for Non-members; includes museum admission and lunch.
