Creating a Cultural Equity Policy
An EdComversation with Inés Familiar-Miller, Jenny Marlowe, and Stephanie Silberman
The road to an equitable and inclusive arts sector begins with providing emerging professionals from diverse backgrounds with the tools, skills and support they need to succeed. While Los Angeles County has invested in arts and culture for more than a century, there are concerns that all County residents do not have equal and meaningful access to the arts and the benefits they provide. To this end, the County created a Cultural Equity and Inclusion Initiative that has ignited arts and cultural organizations in the region and across the nation to embark on their own journeys towards inclusion. During this workshop, you will learn how Emerging Arts Leaders/Los Angeles created and adopted a cultural equity and inclusion policy and how you can do so as well.
