Website Comment Code of Conduct

Community Guidelines

Thank you for being part of our community. To ensure the best possible experience for all, we have established some basic guidelines for comments responding to our online content. The American Alliance of Museums is dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space for dialogue in our comments section. We moderate comments before publishing and reserve the right to reject comments at any time for any reason. Please note that we only accept comments on articles posted to the Alliance Blog, Center for the Future of Museums Blog, Museum magazine, Exhibition journal, and On-Demand Programs. Comments made on all other areas of the site will be rejected.

We encourage comments that:

  • are respectful and inclusive
  • further the conversation of the post
  • add to the body of knowledge about the subject at hand
  • are issue-focused, not person-focused

We reject comments that:

  • Attack another person’s credibility or motivation
  • Attack another person’s lived experience or identity
  • Violate or infringe in any other way upon the rights and safety of others, including any statements which may defame, harass, stalk or threaten
  • Are offensive to the online community, including, without limitation, expressions of obscenity, bigotry, racism, abusiveness, vulgarity, or profanity
  • Include unsolicited or unauthorized advertising or promotional materials or any solicitation with respect to products and/or services
  • Impersonate any person or organization or otherwise misrepresent your affiliations with any people or organizations
  • Interfere with any other user’s right to privacy
  • Include content that violates anyone’s ownership rights without their express written consent in advance
  • Stray off-topic from the content of the post, including unrelated discussions of the authors or organizations involved

See our website’s Terms of Use for more details.

Please Note

  • Museum Junction is AAM’s online community for museum professionals and is the best place to request recommendations for specific products, services, etc.
  • JobHQ is the appropriate place to post job openings or search job postings.
