URBAN INSIGHT
Beyond the 3D Model: Turning Digital Objects Into Guided Stories
Museums are increasingly creating 3D models of objects, artifacts, architecture, and historic spaces, but the visitor experience often stops at rotate, zoom, and explore.
Urban Insight’s 3D Story Builder turns a 3D model into a guided digital experience. Working with curators, collections teams, and archivists, we can identify meaningful viewpoints, add interpretive hotspots, connect supporting media, and create a narrative that helps visitors understand what they are seeing and why it matters.
In this live demonstration, we’ll show how the Story Builder transforms a 3D model into an interactive three-scene experience using open-source web technology. We’ll also show how the finished experience can be integrated into an institution’s existing website or CMS, rather than requiring a separate platform. Museums can use existing 3D assets or work with a 3D design partner to create new objects or environments specifically for digital storytelling.
2:15-2:45 p.m.
LUCI
Edges, Borders, & Frames: Museum Content in a TikTok World
An endless feed with no edges, social media is the most seamless medium ever built. Museums operate with radically different constraints. Memory science explains why they are so different: our brains are quick to forget information stored on devices, but they remember much better what we personally experience. Matthew McNerney, CCO of Luci and Sierra LaDuke of Send It Story discuss Luci’s toolkit to map the three jobs technology can do for a museum, including a practical test for any institution to test their website, interactives, and gallery.
2:50-3:20 p.m.
FIELD THEORY
Guest-Centered Digital Strategy for Museums
