The American Alliance of Museums will be engaging in an Ask Me Anything (AMA) on Reddit’s “MuseumPros” community on museums advocacy the week before Museums Advocacy Day 2021, taking place virtually February 22-23! Whether you are registered for Museums Advocacy Day 2021 or can’t join us this year, this is your time to ask any questions about best practices, tips, and resources for advocating for museums in-person or virtually.
AMAs are a Reddit phenomenon where crowdsourced interviews enable the community to ask questions that are relevant to them, from the serious to the lighthearted. The Reddit MuseumPros community has 10.5k members who discuss working in the field and its members range from undergraduates generally interested in pursuing museum work to experienced professionals looking to discuss precise topics.
- Everyone is welcome to post their questions in the AMA Museums Advocacy thread, which will open on February 15th.
- AAM staff will be answering questions from 3-5 pm ET on February 16 and from 4-5 pm ET on February 17.
The participating AAM staff will be:
- Ember Farber, AAM’s Director, Advocacy
- Natanya Khashan, AAM’s Director of Marketing and Communications
- Rachel Lee, AAM’s Marketing & Communications Manager
