Museums today face unprecedented challenges, including economic uncertainty, political polarization, technological disruption, evolving workforce expectations, and increasing demands for relevance, equity, and public trust. These complex realities require a new approach to leadership, one that moves beyond traditional hierarchical models toward a more human-centered practice. this webinar will introduce the leader-as-coach model, that is central to the forthcoming book Reframing Leadership: A Leader-as-Coach Model for Museums demonstrating how coaching principles and emotional intelligence can help museum leaders build trust, strengthen relationships, foster collaboration, and create resilient organizational cultures.
Participants will:
- Discover the principles of coaching, how it differs from traditional management approaches, and its profound impact on leadership
- Learn how core coaching skills, including active listening, powerful questioning, and fostering accountability play out in daily museum work.
- Glean strategies from museum leaders to create a culture of trust, empathy, and empowerment within their teams.
- Explore real-world scenarios where a coaching approach addressed challenges such as change management, team dynamics, and professional development.
Speaker:
Jennifer DePrizio founded DePrizio Leadership Group in 2023 to support leaders and teams in building healthier workplace culture. She supports leaders at all levels in unlocking their full potential through emotional intelligence, systems thinking, and navigating conflict and change. Her extensive background in creating customized learning opportunities and fostering professional growth has been honed over twenty-five years in prominent cultural organizations across the country, most recently as the Chief Learning Officer at the Cleveland Museum of Art. She has also held leadership roles at Portland Museum of Art, Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, the J. Paul Getty Museum, and the Worcester Art Museum. Her work as a top performing non-profit leader enables her to fully understand the complexities and challenges of the current workplace landscape. This is supported by an Associate Coach Credential from the International Coaching Federation and an Emotionally Intelligent Leadership Certificate through Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Management. She approaches her work as a leadership development specialist with the goal of helping others realize their best selves.
