If you or your museum produces exhibitions, you’ll want to know about Exhibition, the peer-reviewed journal of exhibition theory and practice published by AAM, with the leadership of Managing Editor Ian Kerrigan and Editor Jeanne Normand Goswami. Published twice a year with each issue organized around a theme, Exhibition offers 128 pages of thought-provoking articles, exhibition critiques and commentary, technical articles, and essays. Beginning in 2025, Exhibition is an AAM member benefit, dramatically increasing its reach—learn more.

Spring 2026
Present Tense
In “Present Tense,” the Spring 2026 issue of Exhibition, museums are finding ways to highlight our shared experience instead of our differences, bringing communities together and providing space for new understanding in these tense times. Learn their approaches and strategies for tackling complex topics with visitors, and how museums are responding to pressing current issues.
Exhibition is an AAM member benefit for Individual and Museum Tier 2, Tier 3, Tier 3+, Ally, and Industry Members.
2025 Update on Exhibition
New in 2025: Exhibition is fully digital, and now a member benefit! All articles are available to AAM members, dramatically increasing access to the content from 1,000 subscribers to nearly 70,000 people who can access the publication through their individual or institutional AAM membership.
This change increases visibility for the authors and editors whose hard work and thought leadership make the journal possible. We look forward to the many conversations, questions, and ideas that will be sparked by broadening access to the journal’s content.
