Are Expansion Projects Recession-Proof?
This Museum magazine article explores capital construction projects in light of a decrease in funding, staff layoffs, shrinking endowments, and a decrease in charitable giving. The article provides considerations and sources for funding and makes the claim that successful expansion projects share these traits: strong strategic planning, strong board leadership, focus on collaborations and partnerships, diverse and flexible funding, and an understanding of the project’s economic impact.

Protecting Collections During Renovation
The Northeast Document Conservation Center (NEDCC) provides a technical leaflet with tips for protecting collections during renovations. It alerts institutions to common sources of construction-related damage and provides some solutions for foreseeable problems. The leaflet includes a checklist of major recommendations and a short bibliography.
