The Department of Labor offers Elaws Advisors, interactive tools that provide information about Federal employment laws. Each Advisor simulates an interaction with an employment law expert by asking questions and providing answers based on the responses.

Employment Law Guide: Laws, Regulations, and Technical Assistance Services

The Department of Labor offers Employment Law Guide, which describes the major statutes and regulations that affect businesses and workers. The Guide is designed mainly for those needing “hands-on” information to develop wage, benefit, safety and health, and nondiscrimination policies for businesses.

Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Laws & Guidance

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) enforces Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Civil Rights Act of 1991, the Equal Pay Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, sections of the Rehabilitation Act, and Titles I and V of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The federal Department of Labor provides information about state labor laws, including websites and contact information for state labor offices.

Tax Information for Other Nonprofits

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) provides resources on employment taxes for nonprofits. The site has information about withholding and filing requirements, electronic payment options, and tax and reporting records. In addition, employers can download tax forms and publications.
