Museums Advocacy Day: Rena Calabrese – Telling Our Powerful Stories

Category: Advocacy

Museum Advocate Rena Calabrese, President & CEO, Naper Settlement, speaks about the critical importance of advocacy for museums and shares her museum’s story of the resulting “funds and dreams” made possible through their advocacy efforts.

Transcript

We museums tell the story of our human experience, our planet, and coming here to Museums Advocacy Day is what is required as the first step to ensure that you are able to tell those powerful stories.

We have been lucky enough to receive an NEA grant, an NEH grant, and an IMLS grant within these last five years and we know that a lot of that is because of all the hard work that happens right here. And so when those funds are delivered to us and those dreams at the end of the day, which is what those grants are, come to fruition, it is just incredible.

It makes these days worthwhile.
