A Positive Step! Today, the House Appropriations Committee approved a bill that would provide $231 million for the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). This development comes just one day after the committee approved $145 million for the National Endowment for the Arts and $145 million for the National Endowment for the Humanities—directly contradicting President Trump’s FY18 budget proposal to eliminate these agencies. The full U.S. House, the Senate Appropriations Committee, and the full U.S. Senate have yet to take action.
Let’s Keep the Pressure On! Over 750 museums and related organizations have already signed our fieldwide letter to Congress.
