As the nation approaches the American 250th, African American cultural organizations across the Southeast are leading essential work to broaden and deepen how this history is told. This program spotlights SEMC member institutions—including history and art museums, a plantation site, and a heritage site—whose missions are rooted in African American history and who are shaping how the 250th is interpreted and commemorated. Panelists will share how they’ve leveraged funding, built meaningful partnerships, and developed programs that center community voices while challenging traditional narratives, offering insight and inspiration from organizations redefining how we understand the nation’s past and future.
This program is free for SEMC members and $15 for not-yet-members.
