Are you an educator, community leader, cultural organization, or lifelong learner wanting to explore meaningful ways to elevate and share African American history within your community? Moving beyond traditional narratives centered primarily on slavery and the Civil Rights Movement, the session will inspire participants to engage with and promote African American history in ways that reflect the breadth and diversity of lived experiences across time and place.
Join Dr. Jacqueline Hudson to deepen your understanding of the importance of honoring a broader range of African American stories, including contributions in local history, culture, innovation, and community leadership. Through examples, discussion, and practical guidance, the webinar will highlight how inclusive storytelling strengthens community identity and historical awareness.
Attendees will leave equipped with ideas and strategies to recognize, interpret, and promote African American history within their own local contexts—whether through educational programming, public history initiatives, partnerships, or community events—helping ensure these histories are visible, valued, and shared widely.
