In this webinar, we will go over the process of planning and executing the preparation of photographic objects for exhibitions with a focus on collections care issues. We will delve into some of the concerns related to the preservation of photographs on display, and the presenter will share helpful, accessible, and affordable solutions learned through some of the more challenging exhibition projects from the vast and wide-ranging photography collection at the George Eastman Museum. Topics to be covered include:

Emily Phoenix has worked in framing, exhibition installation, and photography preservation for over fifteen years, and is currently the Head Preparator at the George Eastman Museum in Rochester, NY. Since 2015, Emily and the preparation team have been responsible for the framing, mountmaking, lighting, and installing for over fifty exhibitions. She received her MA in Photographic Preservation & Collections Management from the George Eastman House/Ryerson University, and previously worked at Chicago Albumen Works in the Berkshires as a conservation technician specializing in deteriorated acetate negative recovery.
