MUSE Award Categories
There are 9 categories of MUSE awards. One must be selected for each application you submit. The descriptions below will help you determine which category best suits the program you are nominating. A single Gold, Silver, and Bronze award will be given in each category. Juries may optionally award and Honorable Mention prizes in each category.
A “best in show” prize is optionally granted to a single entry selected for its overall achievement in a given award year. All Gold, Silver, and Bronze winners receive a beautiful award plaque. Honorable Mention winners receive a certificate. All winners are listed on the Media and Technology PN’s MUSE Awards website.
MUSE Award Categories
AR, VR, and Mixed Reality
Augmented, virtual, and mixed reality experiences for onsite or offsite use, including as a contribution to visitor experience, marketing, outreach or educational use on any platform including kiosks, mobile, headsets, etc.
Projects and campaigns with a digital marketing focus or innovative viral element, which may include social media, email newsletters, public relations, videos, blogs and/or online advertising. In your application, please provide information on the reach achieved.
Non-visitor facing technology infrastructure, systems, digitization, APIs, transformations or privacy and ethics initiatives. Entries must exhibit some form of commercial or custom system deployed in service to a GLAM.
Mobile, tablet, or other handheld device-based experiences designed for onsite or offsite use including but not limited to mobile or web apps, educational resources, audio guides, location-based technology, bots, and digital labels. Submit podcasts and other serialized media in the Podcasts and Audio Experiences category.
Online experiences and resources designed for any form of web-based outreach and engagement including websites, portals, microsites, badging, online exhibitions, online collections, image databases, and open data projects. Submit web-based mobile programs in the Mobile Experience category.
Onsite Digital Experience
Onsite visitor experiences including digital interactivity, digital and physical immersion, multi, mixed, and transmedia installations, digitally rich environmental design, projections and video walls and spaces, soundscapes, digital games, kiosks, and data visualization and presentation. Submit AR, VR and mixed reality in the dedicated category.
Serialized, non-site-specific audio programs via any mode of delivery for documentary, interview, news, informational, and entertainment purposes. All modes of delivery are accepted.
Research and Innovation
Bleeding edge applied research and development, methodologies, innovation programs, investment programs, startup collaborations, or industry initiatives that may be visitor or enterprise facing.
Video, Film, Animation, and Live Media or Digital Performances
filmic or live media presentations or performances in any format or location including public events, educational programs, live streams, online content repositories (e.g., YouTube channel), and more. Entries can be interpretive, come in various forms, and can be a passive experience. Filmic content dedicated to marketing purposes should be entered in the Digital Campaign category.
